Detailed Review:

Zopo Color M5 is the latest offering from the Chinese maker, ZOPO Mobiles. While we were struggling with the summer in May, the company decided to beat it with its stylish colour offering for Color M5. The colours are incredibly alluring (especially the Peach, the one I am reviewing here), whereas others variants are Matte White, Caribbean Blue, Charcoal Black, and Indigo. With a price quoted as Rs 5,499 at the time of launch, the device is inclined towards the mid-range segment. Without much ado, let’s jump straight on the detailed insight of the smartphone.

Let’s talk about design

Zopo Color M5 features a 5.0-inch touchscreen display that comes with resolution of 480 x 854 pixels at density 196 pixels per inch. Look wise, the smartphone is much similar to any other mid-range devices available in the market. Front panel flaunts a simple view that includes a selfie camera by the left of earpiece. Towards the down of the device’s face, exhibits the three buttons, each performing different task. The first from the right upholds back button, then there is the home button, and the last one is menu button which shows you the recent screens opened. The drawback is the buttons doesn’t light up while touching or performing something, so you might face a problem locating them when you’re working at night or in darkness.

This time there is no fingerprint scanner in the device, but it seems fine considering the affordable pricing. On the right side of the phone, there are power button along with volume control keys. The backside of the device sports the rear camera. While just below the camera there is flash, speaker lay at the back bottom. Top side of the smartphone upholds the headset jack alongside USB jack. Bottom side features the microphone.

The display is simple yet stylish when you look at the screen. The phone is not that slim as compared to other devices currently available, but the hold is good. The back cover is coarse textured, so it’s not easy you slip your phone. Zopo has once again maintained its position while speaking for touch sensitivity. It’s very smooth and lets you move to different apps and files without much delay.  A decent screen size of 5.0-inch is pretty good for watching videos and movies or even gaming.

Hardware and Software:

Zopo Color M5 runs on MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor coupled with a 1GB RAM that turns actually very fast while multi tasking. An internal storage of 16GB sounds good, though a user can only use upto 11.18 GB. Users can also expand upto 64GB for more storage. I loved the fact, that this time Zopo incised three slots, two each for dual SIMs and one for microSD card. Here, you can insert one Micro-SIM and another Nano-SIM.

As for the software part, the phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There are several pre-installed apps such as YouTube, Notebook, Gmail, Browser, Chrome, Parallel Space, Email, TalkBack, Google Maps, Launcher, Google Play Store, and more. There are a few basic functions as well like Calculator, Sound Recorder, Calendar, FM Radio, Music, Gallery, and Video Player.

How does it perform?

Zopo Color M5 features a RAM of 1GB, which turns it pretty fast while switching over to different apps. But when we talk about the heating issues, it’s still there with this smartphone as well. Talking for 30 minutes at a stretch on the phone will leave it too hot. So its better you use a headphone or bluetooth device while talking longer.

Battery Life:

The smartphone is backed with a good 2100mAh battery that lasts upto 10-12 hours after a single charge upon normal usage. It might take another charge if you use the phone for gaming or other extensive work. A full charge takes around 2-3 hours to happen.

It’s time to look through camera:

Zopo Color M5 exhibits a 5MP rear camera that perfectly captures good images in the day time. But during the low light or night time, the performance of the camera is a bit disappointing. In the dark hours, the images flattened and therefore redeem noise. The street light dazzled too in a way in low light that makes it tough to click nice pictures. Though, the auto focus works too good, the flash works nice too. There are a few interesting features in the camera settings that allows you to add ‘color effect’ while clicking the pictures, like: mono, sepia, negative, aqua, blackboard, and whiteboard. You can also turn on the GPS that speaks about the location. Users can also click videos to capture their special moments at a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

For selfie lovers, there is a front camera that clicks decent pictures in the daylight. But also you can’t expect it to give awesome ones as it is just of 2MP. In the darkness, the selfie fails to work properly because of the bad flash. There is ‘Face Beauty Mode’ in the camera which is a very good news for the selfie lovers.

Final words:

Zopo Color M5 can be a choice for those looking for decent phone at a low budget. The phone works pretty good in terms of functioning. The battery backup is also fine. And if you are not an avid photography lover, then this device clicks cool pictures.

So we think, Color M5 could be a good option if you are looking for a phone to serve all purposes without burning your pocket. It is available online as well as offline. So pick up your piece soon as Flipkart quotes its price as Rs. 5,499.
